Update: Friday, March 13, 2020

To Our Community:

The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the country, the GOAL Foundation is committed to having a plan of action to assure the continued health and safety of our athletes, volunteers, staff, and community.

As this situation continues to evolve, we will closely monitor guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as state and local health officials. We will continue to rely on their recommendations and expertise to inform our decisions, and in all aspects and details of our event, we’re doing all we can to make sure you feel safe, comfortable and welcome.

As of today, State and Local officials are recommending mass gatherings of 100 people or more be avoided. They will continue to monitor in two week intervals, and we will provide communication and updates as details develop. For the safety of our athletes, volunteers, sponsors, and community, we will be changing the upcoming Winter Race Circuit 10 miler race on March 21, 2020 to a virtual run. This format will allow everyone to Get Out And Live while exercising safe social distancing.

We will also continue to monitor the situation in regards to the Ogden Marathon which is scheduled to take place on May 16, 2020, and with the complexity and uncertainty regarding the state of COVID-19, we will continue to communicate with our athletes, volunteers, and stakeholders regularly.Should conditions not allow the race to occur safely on the scheduled date, we will be planning an alternative date in the future for this year’s event when conditions are safe to do so.

All of us at the GOAL Foundation understand that this issue is cause for concern to many, and we offer our deepest sympathies to those who have already been affected. Rest assured that as circumstances continue to develop, one thing will remain the same: We will make our decisions with the health and well-being of our athletes, volunteers, sponsors, partners, employees and communities as our highest priority.

Respectfully,

Eric Bauman
Executive Director
