Shane Osguthorpe | 2023

Shane Osguthorpe | 2023

Shane Osguthorpe is a founding member of the GOAL Foundation’s first Board of Directors and served three full terms from 2003 to 2012. In those early days, every board member, volunteer, and event team member brought every talent they possessed to the table (and even a few they didn’t) to get the organization off the ground. As a local musician and balladeer, Shane was comfortable around a microphone and sound equipment, so the roles of race announcing, sound system set-up, and DJ-ing fell to him: Hurt in the Dirt, the Ogden Marathon, early XTERRA point series triathlons, Regional Championships, and eventually the USA Championships and Pan-American Championships. His announcing skills eventually earned him a place on the XTERRA World Championship announcing crew in Maui for much of the last decade. Along the way, he began announcing several other Ogden-area events including the Harvest Moon Festival, the Sweaty Yeti fat bike race, Junior League fundraisers, and the Ogden Music Festival
Team Bart | 2022

Team Bart | 2022

Team Bart participated in more than 100 races, 10 of them being Ogden Marathon events. These two had been friends for nearly 40 years. Bart lived with a condition called Trisomy 13. Manuel pushed Bart in the ‘Bartmobile,’ a modified paraplegic athlete chair custom-welded by Manuel in his garage. This inspirational duo brought a special energy to the start lines and race environment of the Ogden Marathon and other races across the country. Not only was Team Bart incredibly motivated, but they also shared their “never give up!” work ethic and energy with everyone they met. Manuel lives a life of service and this can't help escape the notice of those who are around him. He believes in giving his all and loving and supporting those who need a lift in life. Bart shared his enthusiasm with others and was famous for his heartfelt cheers of encouragement on race day. Sadly, Bart passed away in December of 2022. The journey these two shared for the last four decades is one to be inspired by.

Terry Foust | 2018

Dr. Terry Foust began running at the age of 34 and over two decades later, he’s still at it. He is a member of the Kaysville area running club, Summit Busters, and is always talking about the Ogden Marathon and influencing others to run it with him. He has organized family race goals and has brought co-workers, friends, and neighbors into the Ogden Marathon, some even beating him into the 10-Year Club! Terry created training programs and invites everyone to participate in weekend training runs. He will take the time during a race to help other runners who may be struggling, forfeiting his own time. He has paid entrance fees for those who could not afford it and has been known to purchase shoes for high school track runners. A few years ago, Terry was diagnosed with nodules on his Thyroid and Hashimoto's Disease. In spite of his ailment, he continues to run and encourages non-runners to take up the sport. His nominator said, "You could not find a better grass roots running ambassador!”
