We are happy to be partnering with Women in Motion this year! WIM is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Ogden women with high-risk health factors, including elevated Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, cholesterol and A1c levels.
Starting in January, participants meet two to three times per week, for 18 weeks, for education and physical training. At the end of the 18-week program, participants complete the half-marathon or 5K portions of the Ogden Marathon. Our educational curriculum is concentrated on healthy living, including regular and focused exercise, nutritious and intuitive eating, and awareness and respect for their bodies. Physical training includes strength and aerobic exercise that is specifically designed to prepare participants for the half-marathon, and modifications are provided to meet participants at their current fitness levels.
WIM participants walk or run farther than they thought they could, improve their health, and increase their enthusiasm for physical fitness. They also have a positive influence on the health of their families, as their fitness goals and lifestyle changes impact those around them.
